top notch
"I’ve been using this jacket for a while now and honestly I’m really impressed with it. It’s a seriously well-designed bit of kit and you can tell it’s built for proper offshore conditions.
One of my favourite features is the peripheral vision windows in the hood – they make a massive difference when you’re sailing, especially in busy or rough conditions, as you can keep awareness without constantly turning your head. The hood itself fits well and moves with you, which is great when you’re active on the boat.
The waterproofing is excellent too. The YKK Aquaseal zip is fully waterproof, so there’s no need for bulky storm flaps, and combined with the neoprene inner cuffs it does a really good job of keeping water out even in heavy spray.
It’s also really comfortable to wear. The relaxed fit means you can layer underneath without it feeling restrictive, and the fabric feels tough and durable without being too heavy. The fleece-lined pockets are a nice touch as well – great for warming your hands when it’s cold.
Another thing I like is the practical design – there are low-profile cargo pockets and even a shoulder pocket for things like an AIS beacon, which shows it’s properly thought out for safety and real use offshore.
Overall, I’m loving this jacket. It’s reliable, comfortable, and packed with useful features that actually make a difference when you’re out on the water. Definitely a great bit of gear if you’re sailing in harsher conditions."

Definitely Waterproof & Comfortable
"My Meris jacket fit perfectly. The sizing process on the website was right.
First use was in pouring rain on race committee. The jacket kept me dry and comfortable in unrelenting conditions all day long. Worth every penny!"

Performed way beyond expectations!
"As a professional expedition sailor, I literally live in my waterproof gear. I wore these for the first time during the Australian 2025 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, and they performed well beyond my expectations. Initially, I was concerned they might be too lightweight to stand up to the rigours of offshore sailing; however, not only did they survive, they were extremely comfortable and allowed free movement around the vessel. Highly recommended."

Excellent Coat for Weather
"This coat will be my coastal/offshore sailing jacket. I live in the PNW and sail in all kinds of weather. I like the features of this jacket, especially the inner cuffs, face guard and pockets. It replaces an older Helly Hanson, which had rubber gaskets on the cuffs, and always felt slimy and uncomfortable. I am 5'5", 120 lbs and I purchased a small. There is plenty of room for layering."

Highest Quality Build and Design.
"I received a Meris Jacket and Salopette for use on an expedition to the Arctic Circle and I was blow away by the build quality of the Meris line. With 22 years in the U. S. Navy and Coast Guard, I've been issued many (many) sets of foul weather gear and this Meris line is easily the brand with the highest build quality. I don't know who designed it, but they either spend decades at sea or talked to people who did. The fit, function, quality, and features are significantly better than two other (equally priced) major brands. This is top notch gear, and I can't wait to get it out there in the field."

Meris Jacket/Salopette Combo
"The new (2025) Meris Waterproof Jacket and Meris Waterproof Salopette are a great combination. The size large (L) is a comfortable fit with heavy layering underneath. I am 5’11’’ and 210lb. The four pockets on the jacket are all accessible while wearing my EP 38 vest. With a larger life jacket style vest the two lower pockets remain accessible. The hood and collar fit comfortably and the side view windows on the hood are great to allow for peripheral vision.
The two thigh pockets on Salopette have ample room for a spare toque, cell phone and dry gloves without hampering movement. The knee pads are positioned well.
I purchased the duo for sail boat racing, but as a Marine Search and Rescue volunteer, I will use this gear for the inclement winter call outs we get here on the British Columbia Coast. I put the gear through its paces while out for a full day of SAR training during in a recent atmospheric river. I was very impressed with the performance, I finished the day, dry, warm and happy.
Good job Mustang!"
