The Tail Trail is more than just a stunning outdoor art exhibit—it’s a celebration of community, creativity, and connection to the world around us. Among the 40+ giant tail sculptures, one stands out as a tribute to the power of water: The Ocean is Calling, a mesmerising creation by local artist Kizzi B Creative.
As the artist behind this breathtaking sculpture, Kizzi brings a unique perspective to the trail. Her work is inspired by the transformative effects of cold-water swimming, breathwork, and mindfulness.
Behind the Brushstrokes
A multidisciplinary creator, Kizzi B Creative creates vibrant, story-rich designs that blend bold visuals with emotional depth. With a background in both visual arts and storytelling, Kizzi brings a unique perspective to public art—often drawing on themes of nature, transformation, and personal empowerment.
Kizzi’s mermaid tail is deeply personal. A lifelong lover of the sea, she found solace and strength through cold-water therapy and the improved mental clarity and resilience it builds. The sculpture reflects her signature style: fluid lines, vivid colours, and layered symbolism that invites viewers to look deeper.
"The ocean is my reset button. The way it forces you to be present, to embrace the moment—it's powerful. That’s what I wanted to capture in my sculpture. A reminder to just breathe, to let go, and to find strength in the water," says Kizzi.
With swirling blues, fluid brushstrokes, and intricate wave patterns, The Ocean is Calling invites viewers to pause, take a deep breath, and immerse themselves in the moment.
A Sculpture with a Purpose
Beyond its visual beauty, this sculpture carries a greater mission—to support Julia’s House, a children’s hospice providing vital care for families facing life-limiting conditions. For Kizzi, being part of this initiative was a perfect fit.
"Art has the power to connect people, just like the ocean does. And if my work can help raise awareness and funds for such an incredible cause, that means everything to me,” she says.
The trail runs through June 1, 2025—don’t miss the chance to experience art along the coastline.
